She dresses up and goes downtown For a dance with her Strangers come from miles around The gentlemen all close their eyes And dream of little girls With money in their pocket They’re used to buy the world And I say... [Chorus] Uuuhh girl, watching you Makes my heart bleed Now I know loving you is bitter sweet I‘m a fool, girl, Cause you’ll never set me free Now I know loving you is bitter sweet A tear like jade and a drop of wine And the way she looks Really drives me out of my mind To waterside pavilions and Through winding corridors I follow her just like the rest Always coming back for more And I say... [Chorus] The gentlemen all close their eyes They’re used to buy the world And I say... [Chorus]

Mother exiles her sons When will I hear The sounds of laughter again No matter what might come We´ll face the truth from now on We are homeless people Mother exiles her sons The wind blows hard In this hollow land The cities may change But there´ll always remain A little hope of walking This path back again

Faces (Demo) 03:09
Faces at my window, Eyes that stare at me Curious looks, like ants They creep into my privacy Faces in the streets, There´s no place I can go Faces from the rooftops To the gutter and below Faces in the subway, Faces that don´t care Dirty little stories make my Good mood disappear [Chorus] Faces, faces, faces Faces all around Places where no space is All around this town There´s no room to breathe No place to be alone Heaven get me out of here Or tell me what I´ve done Faces when I wake up Early in the day Livid faces in the mirror, Got to look away Faces on the staircase, Spying from the rear When I stop and turn around They quickly disappear Faces on the sidewalk, Faces that don´t move Faces with a thousand lines And faces in the groove [Chorus] Faces in the papers, Faces on the screen Faces selling cars and soap And faces selling dreams Faces all around me, No place I can go Faces from the rooftops To the gutter and below [Chorus]

A window blind is casting Shadows on your naked skin Despite your beauty you´re not human And I´m supposed to kill you But looking out the window I can see the crowd drifting in grey Trapped in this city by the pouring rain And I too have to stay [Chorus] Hypnotized by a strange affection Hypnotized, and no way out Hypnotized, mind has surrendered Hypnotized when I touch you Hypnotized by a strange affection Hypnotized, and no way out Hypnotized, mind has surrendered Hypnotized And reason tells us this room´s danger The hunter´s almost there outside But time around us is a thief Stealing thoughts and memories L ooking out the window I can see our soulboats drift away Out of this jungle and the pouring rain Can we ever be the same? [Chorus]

Valerie, beauty queen, Pride of your street, I was just a number in your little book Valerie, the people said One day you’d go far, And would surely lead a life of luxury Valerie – now you’re dreaming With the two of us, you know, It never could work out I was just a number in your little book Hey you pretty blue-eyed girl, Do you know the rules? I hope you’ll find out Before you hit the ground. Valerie – now you’re dreaming [Chorus] Dreams can take you... Higher than the mountains High up to the stars above Your fame-train set in motion And all those tears in all those years Can’t stop you now I was just a number in your little book But you would surely lead A life of luxury Valerie – now you’re dreaming [Chorus]

For a moment I was sure That I´d seen her face before But she turned and walked away Like a cat at night Waking up by distant screams I never can get hold of dreams When they´re coming back one day They never look the same [Chorus] In the streets of our town We were running ´round With our heads full of doubt Safe and sound We were looking for a lover Searching for ourselves And the world that is real While the catherine wheel turns I remember clearly now The smouldering ashes on the ground No way left to walk upon, Yesterday has gone Waking up by distant screams I never can get hold of dreams When they´re coming back one day I won´t be the same [Chorus] Waking up by distant screams I never can get hold of dreams No way left to walk upon, Yesterday has gone [Chorus]
